Our Crime for this week occurred in the evening hours of Wednesday, February 1st, 2006 here in Huntsville. According to Police Investigators, the victim, Jerry Vanvoorhis was struck by a vehicle as he was crossing the parkway between Oakwood Ave. and Arcadia Circle. The victim died of his injuries. The vehicle continued and left the scene. A mirror from the offender’s vehicle was left at the scene. Investigators have determined the vehicle to be a Ford Taurus or Mercury Sable, red or maroon in color. It should be between the years of 1996-1999.
